Halfway up the hike this is the view of the community below ¨Pesillo¨. This was during training so we we were still with our families.

Being goofy.

A lunch break

The other side of the peak after our hours-long hike. So worth it.

Going to the rock formation, with Jessica, Julie, and Brian in the background

The rock formation. Can you see the person on top and the person in the center?

On our way back down we got engulfed by clouds and kind of didnt know where we were going. The outcome was: an interesting hike down.

We had to go through this burnt-out tree garden and we were stained with the branches since they were all black. It was terrible.

The survivors of the hike after going through bogs, rain, and a whole lot of other crap.

This is what I looked like after the hike back down!

In Otavalo, looking for a hat among other things in the open market.
This is where our tech trip began for two weeks.....here are some pictures of what we did

We made some chocolate-sugar coverd peanuts! Yummy.

Harvested some Yucca!

This is San Pedro de Villcambamba where a volunteer is stationed at. We did a small hike up the mountain.

Villcambamba in the background. The peak has a 360 degree view of the valley below. It´s beautiful

One of the two crosses to the peak.
We got to make coffee too. This is the process from roasting, grinding them, and packaging them.

This is what happens when you get in a fight with barbed wire! But its better now!

These are small greenhouses made by a women and a volunteer which enabled them to grow all sorts of vegetables.

This is Cotapaxi volcano towards the end of our 2 week tech trip.

Just hanging out with friends: Michael, Allison, Jennifer, & Bryan

This is where we start to sport the mustaches for the week of swear-in. As you can see there were all sorts of staches going around. It was pretty funny.
These are pictures from our last week together in Quito before swearing in as real volunteers!

The basilica in Quito

A view of the Virgin Mary on the hill from the basilica.

At the top of the basilica with the Virgin Mary in the background.

Going up to see the Virgin Mary. We thought these signs were a joke but turns out they were not. Luckily we went during the day!

The other side of Quito from atop of the hill

Close up

The crew who made it up there without being robbed.
These are pics from the day of swear-in!

Cara wanted a mustache too.

The guys all sporting their mustaches

The stach again....don´t worry...It is gone already!

Celebrating with Naim and Brian and Veronica

Our country director and program manager also sporting the stach with us.

Just me and the ¨stache¨ (don´t show my parents, especially my mom) haha
